If I Knew Then What I Know Now

If I Knew Then What I Know Now I have often wondered if given the chance to go back and learn it all again Would I? If I knew now, what I knew then Could I teach it to my younger self? Would I want to? Life is about pain and discovery It is about hopes and failures Should I take that away? I consider myself the eternal student Though the classroom has changed And the grades are different So when does the learning stop? Now tardiness comes with a price And achievement comes with reward I’m no longer the awkward teenager So why should I be sad? It is in those moments between one and wonderment That I learned a lot about my family, my friends, the world, the universe and myself. No I don’t think I could go back Because I’m always looking forwardIf we could vist ourselves in the past to warn us of the future would we? This is dedicated to someone really special who is about to go on his own journey. Written April 16th, 2002 © on Apr 16 2002 02:45 AM PST   0 • 12
