DIFFERENT, You Say?
By WaryDreamer
"Nineteen others would have said,'To hell with him!' but you're not like them." So... I'm different, huh? I've been told that before in all kinds of circumstances, and I haven't figured out yet if it's a compliment or not ~ Sometimes, I think NOT. I try to warn people, but it doesn't always show up right away, and I don't think they understand. My usual reply after being told, "You're different," is, "Yeah, I know...but from now on I'm going to try to be the same." But I never know what "the same so I won't be different" is because it's not natural for me. I guess it's a part of my double-sided traits ~ the part that intrigues people also drives them crazy (and the length of that depends upon how 'different' I've been.) If it's any comfort, almost everyone who's known me for any length of time has shared the same confusion at one point or another. It used to worry me. Now I just smile and relax. It's like the extra shoe finally hit the floor. I've been expecting it. You've just realized you know the REAL me. So.... Hi! ! ! mDecember 1986 It's commonly said that everyone marches to a different drummer...Sometimes, I think I must be playing a xylaphone! In some ways, I'm terribly predictable, but just when you think you've got me figured out, please realize I don't intentionally throw you a curve! m Written November 15th, 2001 © on Nov 15 2001 01:12 PM PST 18 • 0 • 10
