Realization in the Night
By WaryDreamer
I lay down beside you last night, but I didn't fall asleep.Usually, a contentment settles over me and my cares and worries fade into obscurity as I revel in the closeness of my body next to yours.Last night though, your conflicts became a part of my thoughts filling them with a series of WHAT IF'S... It was not a burden and I readily accepted them from you.I rested, but I didn't sleep. Instead, I lay listening to your night noises ~ the rhythm of your breathing as it slows; the almost-not-there rumble that comes from deep within your throat giving the impression of a cat purring in front of a warm fire; the squeaks your teeth make as you grind them together...Outside noises interfered and as my attention was drawn away, I realized I was cold.Ever so carefully, determined not to disturb you, I slowly sat up to reach and rearrange the covers over us. Almost immediately, I felt your fingers groping for my waist, pulling my back against your body, holding me close to you again. A tidal wave of pleasure settled over me and I finally understood about caring and how different it is when someone cares in return.Then... I went to sleep. mSeptember '86 Written October 20th, 2001 © on Oct 19 2001 11:50 PM PST 18 • 0 • 8
