The Locked Door
By WaryDreamer
There's been a door between us for a long time, now. Occasionally, I've pushed it open just enough to peek through. Sometimes, you were waiting on the other side. Sometimes, you were not. You've tested it too. Sometimes, I've been here to listen and talk. Sometimes, I've gently closed it instead. Last night, You opened it wide enough for me to pass through. The same door that let me in also let me out. You closed it whenever I left. This morning, I distinctly remember turning the lock. Again, there's no panic. But this time, there's a smile. It was a sound we've both been waiting for. mApril 1988 - The Locked Door -Third in a set of 3 poems August 1987 - The Closing December 1987 -- The Door Written November 28th, 2001 © on Nov 27 2001 05:13 PM PST 0 • 12
