Storms In Time

By Whisper Mckee

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The sky rolls with threatening clouds, Lighten tears in jagged streaks, As thunder voices it's thoughts aloud, Sheets of rain follows in it's wake, Sending all animals for warmth and cover, As across the earth it rakes. I lift my face to feel the rain, My body, trimbles in wonder, At a feeling I can not explain. Touching something from long ago, A bit of savage still found. Left over from stories still untold. I begain to moan, as if in a trance, My body moves in ways remembered, As I move to perform ancient dance. A call of blood,to blood. My ancestors cry from the ground, As rain and pre-birth memories flood, My heart, and my civilized mind, As I revert to warrior, Dancing to a song coming across time. The rain stops, the moon comes out. I become the person that lives the now, Block out the ancient drums and warriors shouts.
