I Sang With A Coyote
By WishOnMars
I Sang With A Coyote I sang with a coyote at dusk last night. We crooned to the gold rising moon. Pondering about the days that have passed, she mourned such a melancholy tune. I asked if a sunset sonnet would soothe the heart pain I heard in her song. She said, "No, but I thank you for listening tonight, my life has just gone very wrong." "My lover, my partner, my coyote friend, has found himself a new home. I thought we had something that no one could touch, and now I've been left all alone." I asked,"Can the antelope give him a hint that would show him the err of his ways?" She said she had asked them, but even they said that they hadn't seen him for days. "Then sing to the hawks as they circle the sky. They'll find him and guide him to you." She said, "I will wait for the first light of day and ask them to search through the blue." "Could it be he's just lost and he's waiting to see if the deer can show him the way?" She said, "I can hope that whatever he sought isn't too many rivers away." I told her that dreamers so often believe that there's something much better to find. They lust for adventure, excitement, but then they long for the life left behind. I told her I'll sing her a song every night and pray that he comes back and knows, that hers is his heart, and his life is her own, and their love will do nothing but grow. So if you sit quietly some evening, some night, and you hear a coyote's sad cry. Sing back so she'll know that somebody cares. Just sing your heart song to the sky...
