Birthday Wishes

Your special day has come again. A very special time, my friend. For today, you are a queen, But a beauty you've always been. I'm sorry to say I couldn't bake For you a birthday cake. So I say to you let's just pretend That I actually did, instead. A ring of icing roses and beautiful swirls Are on this cake surrounded by pearls. And on the top with a fiery blaze Are the birthday candles to catch your gaze. Pretend they're there, and blow them out And I'll try to grant you your birthday wish. Do this now, and then we'll see If I can grant what you wish of me. If you want, I'll grant you two. Tell me now what I can do. But mind you, I don't do dishes, So make some special birthday wishes. Birthday wishes to take you to the stars. Look, there's Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Birthday wishes of spectacular dreams, So many things to wish for, it seems. Birthday wishes of true love's kiss But I'm unable to grant such bliss. Birthday wishes of summer's dream, Birthday wishes of moonlight's gleam. Birthday wishes from the heart Because that's where all wishes start. Birthday wishes to have such fun And a huge smile when it's done. Birthday wishes of happiness' tears To wash away all your fears. Birthday wishes to fly like a dove And to have all the things that you love. Birthday wishes strong and true And I promise I'll try To make your every wish come true.I wrote this for a friend on her 16th birthday.
