Damsel-fly I saw you come into the room your movements erratic it was difficult to tell where you would finally land It was evident by your demeanor that you had come from the wasteland of broken hearts, lost loves, dying memories Your eyes moved, looking at the men, the way the mouth on a fly moves when it is searching for the right place to find nourishment a damsel in distress you were tired, weak, in need of sustenance that would again make you feel alive you came closer to me and your eyes met mine I could see the hunger rise as the moisture in your eyes, the regurgitated memories of the men before me….tenderized the thoughts you had of getting to know me those fast cars, one night stands the drunks, the tastes were fresh again but I was different your eyes began to sparkle from the liquid sheen and the lights radiated a thousand- fold it was if I was looking into the eyes of a fly the fine hairs on your arms rose, as your skin glistened as your lips brushed the side of my face, I heard the faint buzz of your breath I wanted to brush you away send you back to your life of decay but I saw your wings were broken, and your legs could not carry you far I built a web around you and soon, I would feast May 16, 2001 © Copyright 2001 1st Poet Inc.
