Entrance

Entrance When death smiles at a man the man can all but smile back What shall the day bring when death steps up to my door and I enter his in return the darkness, the sleep the cold earth surrounding me as worms eat flesh that once was a man do not weep for the dead, we feel no pain weep for the living who suffer much who die daily living in fear I shall not dream of sunshine in winter nor hunger and thirst for love and laughter I will be the moon in the daytime, the sun in the sky and the butterfly that dances upon roses in the garden my bones do not ache, they rest my mind does not race, it lives…released as a bird to dance upon clouds I see the places I have written about, hold tightly the hearts I have touched kiss the lips of fairy maidens, and love stronger than the stone above me do not miss me, for I am not gone I am but a distant moment away one breath, one blink of an eye could bring you to me but I shall wait, smiling in death the door will always be open © Copyright 2001 1st Poet Inc.
