Independence Day
By 1stpoet
Independence Day Every country has had a war for independence I am no different On the day of the decree the judge had given to me a new found form of liberty The bliss was not on our soil we over trivial things did toil and frustration wrapped us like foil The vow we took till death us part was like a knife that stuck in my heart and caused my muse to quickly depart There was no union of fidelity this took away my creativity suffering from love’s depravity you had your venues on the side after I took you as my bride and these from me you did hide until the day you came to me and said you had a form of VD that it was over, and I was free the papers were signed with black ink I rose again, I did not sink my mind evolved again to think now I write on things that feed me thought in tangled webs I am not caught freedom like this cannot be bought no soil is red, no flag does wave there are no dead in forgotten grave yet a survivor goes on, the truly brave yes I again may land on a shore to see if love may be in store but my muse will live, forevermore © Copyright 2001 1st Poet Inc.
