Mental Optometry I went to the doctor today hearing- ok heart- ok muscle tone to body fat- good cholesterol- excellent I even have 20-20 vision it is my mind’s eye that needs glasses sometimes I see what was never there and other times I walk into invisible walls memory and emotions will do that after a night out you call your wife “Myrtle” yet her name is “Angela” a shared chocolate shake (2 straws) took you back to high school and that first crush oh, I have been there before describing a painting, a zoo perhaps a poem only to find it was a dream left over from last night……the sleep lingers I am 40 I have gray hair 245 poems penned in two years if I didn’t write I would think myself blind William S.
