Nirvana Interrupted It is amazing how the surface that we see of life, is so calm, is so deceptive of the depths and the turbulence that lies just a scratch deeper smiling children, stained faces from ice-cream and kool-aid hiding bruised souls, scarred hearts innocence taken away, never to be returned victims of sexual abuse, a war they fight with no guns there are no tanks and bombs, but destroyed homes the castles of imagination and youth, gone placed in a world, where guilt rules the mind fences are the faces that peer upon them, holding them tightly in the confines of confusion love is not supposed to hurt imaginary friends cannot protect and family does not believe the truth of babes not able to grasp the thoughts of those that inflict the child sinks within dreams of better places only to be awakened by nightmares when darkness comes there is no safe place anymore will they grow to be the walking wounded, the cycle to repeat or will one touch be like Hiroshima, laying all waste, to be reborn © Copyright 2001 1st Poet Inc.
