Painted Tears When we wed and you said you loved me you were as a clown crying painted tears only as realistic as dime-store magic were they there to entertain or distract me from the truth; that your love was only a circus a facade that was all illusion and that I would be the one shot through burning hoops why did I walk this tightrope that would have been better suited around my neck for choked was the feeling I had did you ever think about taking off the big shoes that stepped upon me constantly removing the bright colors that blinded me kept me laughing and thinking you were safe No…… for monsters do not cry tears when they devour prey with fangs destined to rip the heart out first rosy cheeks, a white face and painted tears hide so much William S.
