The Giant and the Princess
By 1stpoet
The Giant and the Princess Over yonder near the forest where a stream flows through the glen lived a Giant who was a gardener peering upon castle now and then he had hands that had become so strong from working with a hoe now he had to find a woman for romance, don’t ya know he left the fields behind him as he ventured towards the moat he had no fear of crossing it e’en though he had no boat up high in stately fortress was the princess oh so fair he handed her a flower and she placed it in her hair she came down to the drawbridge it was lowered at her call and there she was beside the man who measured 12 feet tall over her he did tower as they stood by castle gate and she dutifully accepted when he asked her on a date but when he proposed marriage and got down on his knees she wondered of his devotion to the vast acres of peas would she be the prize he sought or just a helping hand and life within the castle had really been quite grand alas she said yes to the question if she would betroth this humble, loving creature no more a behemoth so now in valley oh so green as the sun shines on the meadow she finds comfort in the burning heat as she stands within his shadow and when it comes time for the feast there is both love and fare provided by that immense beast who gently strokes her hair this may seem like a nursery rhyme or just a little crazy but I must say the story is true for I see him give her a daisy opposites were attracted and they live happily ever aft she sings him songs all through the day as he labors in his craft and at night when the sun has hid itself the two entertain the guests ‘tis the fairies and the elves of whom it is I speak in love and wonder the couple is and they show it in their grin it is in dreams and fairy tales we see happiness begin © Copyright 2001 1st Poet Inc.
