Today

Today Today the tears are tapping the keys each droplet directed to vowels and consonants constantly pouring words onto the page you told me I was the means to paying bills and he was the one who held you while your ring stayed in the drawer questions still ring in my ears in the tone of your voice the wanting the needing to know my every move so Yours would be covered, like footprints in sand when waves wash them Today my tears are torrents of triumph for I know the clutter of distrust is flowing like a river from the crevices down cheeks, the salt (sweetly tasted upon my tongue) is not the bitterness of reality I faced hours ago You said you would never lie…… so not telling, or avoiding the questions kept you in truth when in fact your mind was wallowing in the depths of despair that you could not face me with for fear your own tears would give you away These tears are my cleansing the clutter is gone and now I can collect my thoughts…….. Today, I am a new man free and you will continue to drown in tears never cried © Copyright 2002 1st Poet Inc. William S.
