Transcendence You have begged for entrance into my head to experience my joys, and also my dread plunging your fingers into wounds that have bled and tasting the salt in the tears I have shed Asking to see the world through my stare comprehending life, being truly aware to experience this, of what to compare into my world I take you, ensnared You touch my words penned with black ink further within my body you sink Like a vampire, my lifeblood you drink at the edge of my soul you stand at the brink Ingesting flavors of bitter memories yet you want more, you shout “Oh please” So I take you deeper, you’re down on your knees I’ve captured you now, and I hold the keys As you feel life that I’ve lived in my brain you flow within, expanding my veins my audience you are, and I entertain from the pure pleasure, I am sustained I live within words I scribe to the page perhaps to enrapture, perhaps to enrage but combined our thoughts are truly engaged you may be chilled, or yet, be ablaze Communion of flesh, spirit and mind thoughts that traverse, enter, and wind your consciousness I know I can bind I own you, if the right words I can find William Dawes Nov. 2000this is a poem on the power of poetry, and the poet. all places and persons are ficticious.
