While she squatted in a polyethylene shackunder the viaductthe dream fell absent-mindedly from Gertrude’s brain. It rolled down the embankmentinto the pathof a pathological cyclistwho, awed by its odd colourpicked it upbut could not open itand tossed it in the riverand it floated to the harbour.Swallowed by a fishit was caught when the fish was caught. The cook disemboweling the catchsaw it glimmer through the film of the intestine wallremoved itwashed itput it in his pockettook it home.He gave it to his sonwho took it to a curio shopand sold it for five dollarsto buy Pokemon cards.A priest from the cathedralthinking it might be holybought it for thirty pieces of silver.Driving over the viaduct to the cathedralthe priest’s car was hit by a catering truck. The force of the impactrendered his body into bits. The force of the impact drove the dreamthrough the shattered left front window of the carover the railingdown to the squatter camp.It embedded itself like shrapnelinto the brainof a tramp named Gertrude.Surprised at the intrusionher neurons opened it.“Guess where I’ve been”it said.
