Nether Song

NETHER SONG I believe there is a god of ice. I have found his glassy dung Across my path. I have breathed his sharpened breath. His tongue Tears away my sail. In my village a child died one winter night frozen into a little bundle of salvation baptized in sleet entombed in a drift of innocent snow abandoned by the farmers as a gift to the god of crystal. And he took her and he kept her. In his voice I hear her voice. Written October 20th, 2001 © on Oct 20 2001 07:56 AM PST 0 • 13
