The floods

By Angelize

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The floods came,         so unprepared was I     for the rushing, unrelenting       torrents that threatened            to consume me.         My raft nothing more         than empty promises,           left me drowning       in a sea of nothingness.        And there was weeping        and gnashing of teeth.              No one near           to share the pain.       Trust, a distant rainbow,         just another illusion.         And the floods came,        and there was weeping            and the eternal          scarring of a soul.
