The Fishing Trip

By Apparition

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Twas just a weekend fishing trip, Guys picked you up at eight. They all forgot to mention The curly blond haired "bait"! I know all the sweethearts, Acquainted with all wives. She clearly isn't one of them, I'm breaking out in hives! She's with you in this picture, Your arm around her waist. She's looking at you fondly And wearing scanty lace! You're good at keeping secrets. And this picture indicates, You enjoyed this fishing trip With no thoughts of your mate! I must admit I was in shock, But only for a minute. Clearly - future - it is changed, And no way you are in it! Took ring to the graveyard, Symbolically to bury. Then I thought "what's wrong with me?" This ring is full 3 karats! I sold the ring, I sold the boat. I sold your fishing gear. And your favorite fishing lures, Are earrings in my ear! I sold your gun collection, And all the ammunition. Tonight when you get home from work, You'll wish you'd stuck to fishing! Written April 22nd, 2002 © on Apr 21 2002 04:21 PM PST   0 • 14
