In the wake
By atia
I never asked you To create my world Never asked you To make sense of the whirl The life around me Or maybe just the lack of it Oh heck, who cares? I do Who gave you the right To mess with my reality To lie and keep me tame How can you live to know that you're quiet HUSH! I'm not supposed to know Another world exists Thats harsh Where parents don't know Of sawed off guns in their kids' rooms Or that 'Hey you're wrong! But I shall kill in my playground.' How high were you planning to take me Had I not run from the drug? When were you planning to let me fall? Or would you keep me high on you and your lies Forever and ever And watch me feed On your self proclaimed righteousness and your home grown sensationalism. I'm speechless I'm blind too But that's what you did to me The eyes shall open though To see the holes That bore through your skin And show all you are - empty Is that what you wanted me to be? Hollow? Devoid? Alone? Thanks for the future Or the lack of it...This poem is addressed to the news media and is in response to a paper I am doing research for..
