Spangled
By atia
There are times When the stars twinkle in my eyes And the orange yellow of the world Beckons me to call I don't just walk anymore I jump, I skip, I hop down life Determined to get every leaf To hear it crumple beneath my feet And scream my very name.. I walk on the edges of sidewalks With my arms up like I were an airplane Singing songs only my parents would dare I sense the wind chill my cheeks And thank God for life (despite cursing myself for anticipating the cold) I look up at the night And wish I knew more of constellations Or else my bespangled sky would take Some shape or form.. I feel the world Reaching out to me, Needing my crazy childishness, Since that's what keeps us sane, Loving me for who I am, Knowing it can't keep me tame...
