Expectations

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

loved him, so I told him. He said the same to me, We made our vows with great delight, And then made love all through the night, We had our children, bought our home, Had money, cars, a mobile phone. Things went on well, we'd rarely fight, Until one day, it wasn't right, He asked me what I wanted, I told him, to be free, His face was sad and haunted, But knew that he'd agree. We'd ask too much, we couldn't share, Our love had died, from lack of care, The things we did, were done with spite He wanted things I wanted life. I love again, and now I know, That what you reap, you've had to sow. Expect too much and you will see, That all you want just cannot be. For love is more than taking It's more a case of being free..
