Cut Me Down to Size

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

There’s no time to explain, That time has gone, I’m leaving today, Heading God knows where, If I ring, Don’t expect conversation, Just listen, There’s nothing to declare. You left no other choice, You left me here, My train at platform seven, Sits heavy on its wheels, Overhead, One more announcement, Goes unheard, There’s nothing to reveal. It’s been a long time since The hungry start, We drifted different ways, Got a taste for foreign things, In my heart We’re still together, Just about, My bitter head, though, stings. And when you’re far away, Somewhere nice, I’ll listen to your message, And smile for you aren’t tied, Lucky you, I’ll quickly whisper, Down the phone, You cut me down to size.
