I Banged On The Door In The Middle Of The Field

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I banged on the door in the middle of the field, and I waited for an answer I thought would never come, with the sun setting west, and the mist rolling in, there was only little chance you'd get here. And I was right, for the sun saw me 'lone in the morn, the sight of it rising set ablaze my active mind, and though it never happened I dreamt that it had, perhaps that was better in the end. So I stand in the field behind this rotting door, and I daren't take the handle and twist it right, Perhaps I am wrong to wait for that answer, but there's only so many times that I'll knock.
