If I Should Die Suddenly

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

If I should die suddenly, and not get to say what I should have said, then to my friends, I thank you, you have made me laugh, and taught me emotions, to my family, I thank you, you have kept me safe, and taught me values, to my children, I thank you, you have shown me purpose, and taught me fragility, and to my wife, I thank you, you have shown me faith, and taught me love. If I should die suddenly, forget about the bad times, think only of the good times, don’t think that I have gone, understand that I look out for you, though only want the best for you, to see you happy, content, and safe, at peace with those around you, see my space where I would have been, and try to talk things through. If I should die suddenly, I will die without remorse, For I’ve achieved so much more than I could have ever hoped, Gather to remember me, Hold hands and picture me, Support those who’ll miss me, Then watch my casket go, But don’t be too upset, I will have already escaped.
