Not As Thick As I First Thought

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

These walls aren’t as thick as I first thought, I hear it all, though silence should surround me. I think, though thinking should hardly be a part of me. There are others, who can tell my sins, but they, too, have doubts. I can’t let them know just how much I’m lost. Then I look outside, steal glances I should not afford, and am torn between a love for the world, and a love for my Lord. I’ll take a walk, maybe a last one, through the trees, down to the gate, and with my trembling weak hands enter, stand and weep for troubles past and present. Then, when my tears are shed, I shall rest, once more, on walls, not as thick as I first thought. Written January 2nd, 2002 © on Jan 02 2002 12:23 AM PST, Simon Birks   0 • 1
