So Much To Say

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Father and boy, I can see them in the rear view mirror, they do not speak, and yet, have so much to say to the other. The man keeps on starting, opening his mouth, parting his lips to ask a question, pass a comment, but stops when before he has the chance, scared that he will not know the answer, that the truth that his son was not the toddler he knew, thought he'd always know, where did it all go? And the son simply looks out the window, embarrassed to be with his Dad, yet not really knowing why he should be, he's a good man can't remember ever being let down. And as the lights change to green, there they remain, with so much to say, but no words to say it. Written March 25th, 2002 © on Mar 24 2002 11:58 PM PST, Simon Birks   0 • 1
