The Book That I Wanted
By birksy
I stood very still in the library, then moved, through the rows, I followed a noise I thought I could hear, wondered who knew my name. The book was an old one, and I'd seen it before, and I'd seen it before, and I'd seen it before, that's how it knew my name. I took it from the shelf, stood quite still in the corner, ducked my head, and listened to the pages, say my name. I took it to the desk, perhaps I'd keep it this time, but the lady simply laughed, and when I looked at her, the book that I wanted was on my hand.
