The People We Know

By birksy

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

It’s the people we know, Who can help us decide, Who can help us to stand, Who’ll stand by our side, The people we know, Who’ll help share the pain, Who’ll help us to see, It’s not all in vain. It’s the people we know, Who’ll ask how we are, Who’ll take our cold hands, Whose hands smooth the scar, The people we know, Who’ll share their warm bread, Who’ll help us to speak, When its all left unsaid. It’s the people we know, Who’ll pick up the phone, Who’ll help with our doubts, Whose doubts won’t have shown, The people we know, Who’ll ask us to stay, Who’ll help us to hear, That its all gone okay. It’s the people we know, Who’ll switch on the light, Who’ll make sure we’re held, Whose hold will be tight, The people we know, Who’ll never forget, Who’ll help us to feel, We’re not in their debt. It’s the people we know, Who’ll give us the love, Who’ll keep being strong, When strength is enough, The people we know, Whose care never ends, Who’ll help us to know, They’re always our friends.
