the dance

By catseyes

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

You saw me dancing freely around the room, vibrating with life. You asked for my hand, and we became partners. I performed the more delicate moves for the beauty of two forms joined in one song. Within the lights and the music, we transformed into a man and woman in love. Now, you etch lines on the floor, the confines of ownership. Your boundaries and my strong independence collide. You maneuver to control the beat, but I will not be told which tempo suits me. My vitality cannot be persuaded to sit on the sidelines and die. I am too alive. I am too alive even without you. I would have waltzed the moon. But I will not fade into you. I will keep dancing. I will keep dancing on. Written January 7th, 2002 © on Jan 07 2002 07:13 AM PST   0 • 10
