Inevitable Defeat

By considerately killing time

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Is this race worth finishing when defeat is inevitable? Why do I try to fool myself by running in victory's general direction, Even though I know that, soon enough, victory will be just out of my reach. Why do I continue to run? Will there be some sort of satisfaction gained for being a part of this race? I don't want to participate anymore. There's nothing to Look forward to in the end, Except for a participation ribbon.... Unless of course, you're in cahoots with the race co-ordinator. Then I'd defineately be invited to the after party, Hmmm, I don't think so. All of that training...I can't devote All of that time to ensure that I won't be left out of the winner's circle. It's all a bit too much for me. I think I'd like to end this race a bit early, I think I would like my ribbon now please. Written October 28th, 2001 © on Oct 28 2001 01:12 PM PST   0 • 10
