There was a malleable silence once the winged men departed. I contemplated my mistakes as best I could, and then I remembered where I was. I came to the realization that this dream state may very well be lost to me upon my return to earth. I felt that I must make an attempt which seemed vain, an attempt to commit my memory to this experience. Attempt after attempt failed. I could not seem to put my arms around the whole ordeal. I searched myself for some kind of memory aide, and then I had a small light illuminate in me. Some time ago, I learned of a simple memorization device called mnemonics. When a list of words or phrases were to be memorized, the first letter of each item could be transposed into the first letter of a rhyme or limerick to be recited. I thought I could use a variation of this method to attach my recollections to. I knew I would not remember a word which I arbitrarily decided to use, so I decided to use one someone close to me often repeated. I fumbled for a word which both fit this criteria and was striking enough to alert my consciousness of its symbolism. There was only one word.
