Goodbye Mum

By Desdemona

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

This goes out to a woman Across the other side of the world A day away But miles of laughs we share This goes out to a woman a mother of a beautiful daughter a grandmother to a little boy A wife that tried to please all This goes out to a woman who I wished I had met Who called me by many names Who was a victim at a young age This goes out to a woman Proud of her accomplishments ashamed of nothing Heart as big as all compilations of books This goes out to a woman Whom has recently passed away A friend to the end Now another angel in heaven The strongest woman I never knew... A Woman I called 'MUM'I met this woman online a few years ago. She was from Australia and I live in the United States. Even though we never really met, she would call me on the phone sometimes and talk. I know it was major long distance bills but she offered me to come stay with her and her daughter for awhile, If i wanted to. Well needless to say she died in her sleep one night. This woman had to have been one of the strongest women I have ever met. She was raped as a young child. Her parents left her cuz she was pregnant. So she raised herself and her daughter on her own. I have to say She will be truley Missed. Written November 26th, 2000 © on Nov 03 2001 03:22 AM PST, Lee Gillilan   18 • 0 • 1
