The call of the sea
By DocMccurdy
The call of the sea is so tempting and wild, The brine that flows, yet refreshing and mild How I wish I was just sailing away, Through the morning mist and many a day. We watch as the waves splashing the deck, Our boat in the huge sea, a mere speck, The salty water continues to spray, The fishermen begin to kneel and pray. We join together to sing out loud, As the sun peeps from behind a cloud, It's time now to get to the task, O fish beware, the bait's a mask. Night sets in on the angry sea, the waves rock the boat with glee, Sending messages of love and despair, It talks of hope and then beware! We huddle together the whole night long, listening to tales of old and strong, While the wind mercilessly lashes out, Our survival itself is gravely in doubt. The nets are out and the prizes galore, thousands of fish and maybe more, We must now return safe and sound, till another day, till another round, I look once more to the sea again, My heart beats, the call is plain, I just can't wait till another day, When we pack our bags and sail away.
