The wedding anniversary
By DocMccurdy
It was just only the other day, I went to my Aunt's house, There I saw a sight so gay, My Uncle dancing with his spouse. I wondered how they changed so soon, for they used to fight daily, What had happened that afternoon, They were dancing this gaily. I put my face against a window, To take a better look, I noticed the tree above me bow, Even it in happiness shook. All of a sudden they ceased dancing, The old man sat on a chair, He moved as if he sat on a spring, And I saw that his feet were bare. He then shouted at his stout wife, Who hearing his angry voice ran, Then when he took out his pocket knife, The old fued had again began. I wondered at this sudden change, that had overcome them so soon, Then I realized their anniversary range, had just ended that noon. Written January 10th, 1975 © on Nov 10 2001 03:30 AM PST 0 • 14
