Scream For Me
There's a stench upon the air, Silence quickly befalls the land, You notice a shaking in your hand. A cloud moves across the moon, Death will inevitably come soon. You have but two choices: Run, and pray you make it, Or stay, hold your ground and face it. As the clouds depart, The moon appears, And the land is drenched in its pail tint. A tree rustles behind you, You turn to look. But nothing is there. A door slams shut, A tinge of fear runs up your spine. The wind howls its warning, Your heart starts soaring, You hands, drenched in sweat. There is an animal out there, You feel it through your fear, You can feel it on the back of your neck, You can feel it watching you, Your ears searching for any signs. You walk backwards, Feeling your way in the dark. Until you hit a tree, Grasping onto the bark. The stench grows nearer, Your pulse rises higher, You hope it can't hear you breathing. And then it comes, A cut upon your ankle, A voice to your side, Someone calls from a far, You try to call back, But fear grabs your words. The air grows cold, You can see your breath, Your legs start to tremble, You hairs stand on end. Something touches you from behind, You try to turn. But fear takes your legs too. You feel it closer, Holding onto your body, Coming over your shoulder, Whispering in your ear... "Scream for me...." Written March 11th, 2002 © on Mar 11 2002 07:25 AM PST 18 • 0 • 10
