Together We Can
By Enru
As I lay in bed I ponder, Why does the world hate me so? What does it have against me? While others glide along, I have to row, With oars of mesh, I paddle on, Only to be swept away. I fall behind, everyone's long gone. Just me and a few others, They got left back like me, Kinfolk, my sisters and brothers. We fight the current with all our might, But we are seperate and alone. Without each other's help, it's a futile fight. Some have it worse than the rest. This woman gets beat for speaking, This boy can't seem to pass his tests, While this girl's dog just died. But little differences make no matter. We have to band together for this ride. Those who glide look back on my kin and I, And shout "Quit worrying, it's no big deal." But we've already told ourselves that lie. Deepset in our minds is where the pain resides. Scratched in our heads, it makes out oars mesh, Our bodies rock, and curses our tides. It seems we're alone and helpless, But we have each other. Together we can make it through this. Written February 17th, 2002 © on Feb 17 2002 04:39 AM PST 18 • 0 • 12
