When all is said and done, the hurt will never be undone. When everything seems to be better, there will always be a taste of bitter. And when you see me smile, there will always be a tear. If you ever see me stand in one place, I will always turn the other way. I want to reach out and, yet it seems so hard to think I can trust anyone anymore. I'm afraid to give in to the smiles and the praise. There's been too much to believe it's more than a phase of catching me just to let me go. If you ever see me cry, please tell yourself it's just a show. If you ever hear me scream, tell yourself it's only a dream. When you don't know what to say, let's just leave it for another day. Keep it to yourself and don't think about me, you'll always be better off if you don't see. You'll never get to know what the center is, a silent fear of getting to close is what keeps me from being near. And when you don't know what to say, let's just leave it for another day.
