'Love Or Hate: A Child Denied'

By FifthRing

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

When you left I cried, the little girl inside, incomplete with the love denied. Then you returned, and my heart burned, emotions fought a lesson learned. To love or hate, was my debate, your second try a little bit late. To forgive and forget, without regret, and start again as if first met. Or release my anger, upon you stranger, who'd given up in spite of danger. A reason unknown, a child alone, then unsure if I should condone. You tried to explain, but facts remained, and you wore a heavy stain. My life was you, then it was through, and I unknowing of what to do. The dolls once played, the beds once made, all crushed when no happiness stayed. Smiling eyes, and knowledge wise, at once changed to painful lies. Then back you came, down in shame, not trying to give away your blame. That's what made it hard, to decide which to regard, the King of Heart's or Joker's card. The child inside, still wanted a ride, but couldn't forget the love denied. Keep your tongue at bay, or to go out and play, make you go or allow you to stay. A decision unmade, as in bed I lay. A woman scared, and emotions played. Love and hate, my big debate. The painful choice, of deciding your fate. My eyes still cry, as nights go by. For revenge or for peace, to give or deny.. . . This is one I wrote from a female point of view. It's fiction, incidentally (and I don't mean just because i'm a male ;). . . . Written December 5th, 1992 © on Mar 07 2002 03:38 AM PST   0 • 1
