'The Smell Of Sleep'
By FifthRing
After your hours of silent slumber I draw in close before I wake you Brush your sweet lips with my own and alone enjoy the moment near you I close my eyes and inhale your scent as the night's musk rises from your skin But you awaken with my face at your neck and stop me before I can really begin You just won't have it while you're awake your modesty just won't allow it You just smile and joke and push me away but you smell like sleep and there's just something about it You kiss me first then call me weird then head straight for the shower All over you before you wake and faint in the sheets after The smell of comfort and of dreams a drug that rests the mind With the softness and warmth of a blanket you want but will probably never find The reason I hold you as we sleep why so close I press But you don't understand why and of course you'll probably never guess. . . .
