All Night I Cried
By Fred
Mom, I overheard you and Dad one night 'Don't tell the kids, I'll be all right.' I listen closer saddened by my ears You said you had Lupus, I shed tears. I love you Mom, please don't go Would you be all right? I didn't know. All night I cried, as I tossed and I turned Nervousness overcame me, my stomach churned All night I shed tear after painful tear All night I sobbed filled with pain and fear. I couldn't be loud, bro. and sis. didn't need to know So that night I buried my head under my pillow. I've heard about Lupus, it attacks your cells And makes you weak, breaking you down When I think about it my red eyes will swell And I'll be made to wear a perpetual frown. All night I cried, Mom I cried for you All night I cried, what more could I do Drip, drip, my tears did ceaselessly flow All night I cried, I drowned in sorrow! Mom, I love you say you'll be okay And take all of my sorrows away All night I cried, grief's flames consuming me All night I cried, I don't wanna lose my Mommy.
