We Can't Be Friends
By Fred
This poem is dedicated to my ex-girlfriend K. Monique Fields who walked out of my life after 2 years for no apparent reason on December 15, 2000. Now you wanna be friends or so you say. Still my heart won't let me forget that day. The day you left and shattered my world The day you said ' I'm no longer your girl.' I tried so very hard to make us work Now you say you never meant to be a jerk. You told me it wasn't my fault that we split Still you felt nothing for me and so you quit. I gave you the best two years of my life I thought you'd eventually be my wife. You said we'd be together forever And that your love for me would die never. But look at me now, a heart broken man My head comprehends, yet my heart don't understand! We can't be friends! I don't wanna look at you! I'm not your friend! In fact, I truly hate you. You say I'm wrong to feel the way I do Maybe you're right perhaps that may be true. But try telling that to my aching heart You can't reason with a man torn apart. So I still hate you, you fat, stupid bit** See my sense of reason, was thrown in the ditch. My head understands yet my heart don't comprehend That is why we cannot even be friends.
