Yet Still I Shine

By Fred

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Like a gardener with shears you tried to cut me down Anytime I tried to smile, you had to make me frown. You did what you could to put clouds in the blue skies of mine You tried to kick me down and defeat me bad, yet still I shine! Your intentions were to thwart my eminent success And make me feel weak, down and depressed. So to keep me down, you kept on repeatedly lying But now I've found a greater truth and I'm still a shining. Did you think that you would get the last laugh By sending black cats down my weary path. Did you think you'd permanently darken my way Well, guess what? I've found even more light and I shine today! Written September 27th, 2001 © on Sep 27 2001 01:28 PM PST   0 • 12
