No Privileged Observers

Were the fastest man imaginable to play ping pong alone, Could he stand at opposite ends of the table And see his own face? Could a guest at the door Also be the host that answers? One needs a mirror, to see his own face. Yet even with but one mirror, He cannot see the back of his head. Imagine so fast a man on a treadmill that is a globe. He walks, then jogs Turning the globe with each step. Running, he races...faster, ever-faster, Like a dog chasing its tail Hoping to see what is just over the horizon. Were he to glimpse the back of his head He would still not see his face. From inside, how to get a view from the outside looking in? How fast must one move to see both sides of a coin at once and be in two places at the same time? Until acheiving such a rate of speed, there are no priveleged observers. --Uncle Greg Written October 15th, 2001 © on Oct 15 2001 03:12 PM PST    0 • 9
