The Tale of Izzy & Wuzzy

By G man767

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Izzy was an Izzer. And like every Izzer Izzy's job was 'izzing.' Wuzzy, a retired izzer, preferred what Was to what Is. (Lazy Wuzzy felt Izzing was far too busy.) Every wuz had at one time been an iz. Yet once an iz turns into a wuz it's no longer an iz. Izzing, most izzers claim, keeps fizzing away like the "fizzling fizz" of bubbly Champagne. They also say, "Izzing always is and never was." Izzing is where every iz comes from. One day while izzing, Izzy asked Wuzzy: "Since every iz that izzes from an izzer eventually izzes until it becomes a wuz, what happens to an iz...? Where does an iz go on its way to becoming a wuz? And, where do izzes come from, and start, exactly, beyond an Izzer's Izzing, that is? Afterall, before an iz ever iz must it not have been the wuz of an izzing? Wuzzy was buzzy trying to bring Izzy up to speed about the birdz and beez. So Wuzzy asked: Can it be that an Izzer's Izzing   turns almost not quite yet izzes into full fledged izzes, able then to become wuzzes... simply through the act of izzing itself? Izzy replied: If an izzer's izzing-- aka the izzing of an izzer-- iz the izzing of izzing; and if every iz comes from the izzing of izzing... then the izzing of izzing most likely is caused by...izzing... So that if izzing always izzes and is always izzing then izzing must also have been what always wuz... which made both Izzy & Wuzzy wonder: Is an Iz that Wuz the same as a Wuz that Iz? The thought of which made both Wuzzy and Izzy very dizzy. --Uncle Greg Written August 12th, 2004 © on Dec 30 2001 07:09 PM PST    0 • 7 • 2
