Bridge To Evil
By Grannyrosie
BRIDGE TO EVIL Tis warning falls on ears so deaf, As only obsessed blind love can be, Mistress, I pray, do not this day, Cross over yonder bridge I see. Alas, don’t go beyond the rise, I pray, sweet Mistress mine. Tho’ maybe love awaits thee there, Tis surely you will find, Evil’s demons lurk beyond, In places black, and grey, Enticing maidens sweet and pure, Satanic games to play. She hesitates, sweet Mistress mine, Yet, sanity will not prevail, Determination rules her step, Thus leading her to hell. He, cowardly cad, so oft has played, With damsels of the court, Tonight, he hypnotised my lady, His lies, and promises, she brought. She sees him, and only him, Oblivious to warning’s call, Master will ne’r forgive me, Shouldst she, to harm, befall. A tryst, he did but organise, Enticing her to his evil realm, Alas poor mistress knows not, Satan himself, does take the helm. Tis surely that I must make haste, Find help too soon, Time must not waste, Dost seem, she floats upon a cloud , To meet her destiny, death’s shroud. Dear Mistress, do not take that step, Not one foot upon that bridge, Tis not a thing of life beyond, Be hell’s despair embraces that ridge. The demons deal in flesh, and lust, None as yea should need to know, Imploring thee, upon mine knees. Mistress, do not go. As in a trance, she hears me not, I must forestall evil’s desire. Ah! Woe, should my young Mistress go, T’will be the death, of yon Sire. Shouldst shake her, Wake her from this swoon? This be sure, I must act soon, She stands now at the brink of doom, Ensnared in web of Satan’s loom. Lo! A light shines from the mist. Elation draws this very breath. My Master and the young squire speak, Unto her, kind, gentle words speak. She pauses, then makes to go on, Her Fathers tears fall on her face. Behold! A miracle, she awakes, Fainting within, Fathers embrace Written January 11th, 2002 © on Jan 11 2002 02:55 AM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 10
