Cruel master, time
By Grannyrosie
Cruel Master, Time. Alas! Cruel master, time, Thou hast enslaved mankind. Would that thee reprieve, release them, Contentment, and peace they should find. Bound by your restless, demanding passion, Limiting, daunting, jubilant in your glee, The very essence of the hungry human soul, Now engulfed, controlled, by thee. Laments that time may yet stand still, Pour towards the heavens in dismay. Yet, with each minute that quickly passes, Man rushes forth, beguiled by each new day. Bustling, jostling, running, careering, T’would seem your wrath, all are fearing. Countless mechanisms march in time, Weary battlers, in discordant line. Too soon, too soon, you separate, Mortals from this blessed Mother, earth. Corridors of grieving, mourning minds, Wither; shrink, beneath your heartless mirth. Ah! Time! Insensitive ruler of this regime, Haste is surely not the ultimate prize. Thy will may well be defeated, overcome, With clear vision, wisdom, open eyes. Slow down world, let not this devil win. Peruse the beauty, wonder that dost abound. Behold, deposit time firmly in his place, Peace, serenity, tranquillity, will then be found.
