First Love
By Grannyrosie
FIRST LOVE Single red rose bud on your grave, Dead, you are forever gone. The rose to epitomise once great beauty, The thorns reminders that yet, I mourn. Folded petals conceal great love, I prayed in vain, would be for me. Fate dealt cards in her favour, Setting your spirit free. I hold you still, deep within, Eternally, your flame will burn. Tho you are gone, I am not alone, You are with me, at every turn. I see your face in music, Your voice is carried by the breeze. Nights are comforted in your arms, You, I yet aspire, to please. Every rose I see gives me recall, Special moments that we shared. Drinking life’s cup, in excess, together. For your departure I was ill prepared. Dear love, there will be others. We both know this to be true. No matter where my heart goes, First, it belonged to you. Written December 26th, 2001 © on Dec 25 2001 09:51 PM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 8
