Fleur (dedication to a grand daughter)
By Grannyrosie
FLEUR Oh little flower, seed of my seed, Where are you going at such high speed, Fighting the good fight for causes so right, Reaching for justice, your light shining bright. Oh seed of my seed protesting loud, Lifting you voice at the front of the crowd. Hurled into paddy wagon, battered and sore, Find a good fight then go look for more. Oh seed of my seed in your fight for the right Of indigenous people to live without blight, Without poverty, illness, misery and shame, If the invaders will ever acknowledge the blame. Oh seed of my seed even in poor health You fight for an even distribution of wealth, Thumb your nose at convention at every chance, Multinational conglomerate, you lead a fine dance. Oh seed of my seed where ever you go On your life journey to alleviate woe, Let you idealism remain firmly grounded In tolerance for other opinions expounded. Oh seed of my seed my heart weeps for this world And for all of the fighters who carry the sword Against tyranny, injustice, society’s shame But remember each human on Earth shares the blame. Oh seed of my seed how you bleed for this Earth, Desolation, destruction enmeshes her girth, You challenge the plunder, the pillage, the abuse, So ride on ever forward, without need for excuse. Oh seed of my seed, what a wonder you are You have courage and wisdom my delicate star, Go on ever more with your protests so true, I will be there in spirit for ever with you.
